Our Story
Roast Founder Devon Ueckermann is a renowned Chef, having worked all over South Africa
in some of the most prestigious Hotels and Restaurants.
Roast Founder Bronwyn Roos has been a Marketing specialist for over 15 years specializing in
Shopping Centres and Markets. She was instrumental in starting and running the following
markets : The Pearls Market, Blythedale Market and the Umhlanga Night Market.
During the National lockdown in 2020 with restaurants and markets not able to operate, the
very entrepreneurial duo recognized the need for Roast Chicken as half of South Africa was
complaining about the fact that they couldn’t buy any.
They also recognized a gap in the
market for healthy alternative to fast food for those who are hungry for a meal on the go that
doesn’t cost a ‘wing and a leg’, that is healthy, tasty and roasted with love!
After Devon derived a winning recipe and Bronwyn designed the perfect “Coop” the magic
of Roast was born….……
The first Coop was opened in the Pearls Mall as a prototype and was later closed as Bronwyn
and Devon were needed to personally supervise the building, fitting, stocking up of, training
and opening of each new franchise.
Even though it is a reasonably new Franchise, we are proud to say that our flock has grown
from strength to strength.
Our ‘Coops’ will continue the phenomenal growth in 2022 as we roll out plans to open
additional Franchises across the country!
Our ‘Coops’ are now Nationwide with stores in the Western Cape, KZN, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga, and we have plans to roll out more Franchises across the country in 2022 and beyond!
